Instructions for abstract submissions of oral and poster presentations

1. Abstract submission closing date is extended to 10th May 2024.

2. Abstract/s must be accompanied by full registration of the submitting author. One full paid registration is required to accompany each abstract. Abstracts without a paid registration will not be accepted. A co-author can register on behalf of the primary/first author.

3. A maximum of 3 abstracts per delegate (as a primary/first author) will be accepted.

4. Oral and poster presentations are of two categories:
– Contending presentations
– Non-contending presentations

5. Oral presentations are limited to 10 presentations. Best 10 abstracts will be selected.

6. All submitting authors will be notified via email regarding the acceptance of abstracts before or by 17th June 2024.

7. All authors must submit the JPEG or PNG format (larger than 5Mb or maximum size 1920 x 1980) for poster before or by 27th. Submission should be made via the link provided in the notification email.

8. Posters will be made available online on the International Convention of Forensic Medicine & Sciences 2024 website. All convention delegates have to create a username and password during registration for the convention. The username and password will allow delegates to submit abstract(s) and to access the e-posters.

9. Accepted abstracts are subjected to publication in The Malaysian Journal of Pathology (indexed in JCR and Scopus) as per committee decision. The journal is an open access journal and freely available to all.

10. Oral presenters will be notified of the date and time of the presentation via email. Oral presenters must be present physically and are given 10 minutes for presentation followed by 5 minutes of a question-and-answer session.

11. Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony of the convention.

12. The decision by the committee of the convention is final.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

1. All abstracts must be original and not simultaneously submitted or published elsewhere.

2. Abstracts must be submitted in English, in Word file, with font size 12, type Arial, margin 1 inch, and spacing 1.5.

3. Title in sentence case and bold with no full stop at the end.

4. List of authors: Full name and affiliations numbered in superscript. Underline and bold the primary/first author’s name. Please type author’s affiliation(s) with assignments in numeric. Italic font, (e.g., ¹Department of Forensic Medicine, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Selangor, Malaysia; ²Department of Forensic Medicine, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

5. The abstract should not be more than 250 words (excluding title, authors’ name, and affiliations). (Maximum 250 words)

6. Abstract for research/study/original article should include the following:

– State for oral or poster presentation
– Title of paper
– List of authors’ name and affiliations
– Introduction
– Objective(s)
– Materials and Methods
– Results
– Discussion/Conclusion

7. Case reports are welcome and should include the following:

– State for oral or poster presentation
– Title of paper
– List of authors’ name and affiliations
– Introduction
– Case report
– Conclusion/Discussion

8. Graphs, tables, illustrations, or references should not be included in the abstract.

9. The file name should be the title of the paper.
