Dr Mohd Suhani is a medical graduate of the University of Malaya. He obtained his Master’s in Forensic Pathology from the National University of Malaysia in 2001 and underwent subspecialty training in forensic histopathology at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, Melbourne, from 2007 through 2008.
He is a Senior Consultant Forensic Pathologist and the Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital. He is also the Head of the Kedah State Forensic Medicine Service and the National Forensic Medicine Service of the Ministry of Health of Malaysia.
In 2008, he established the first fully operational forensic histopathology laboratory in the Ministry of Health of Malaysia at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital. His primary interest lies in the histopathology of trauma and sudden deaths, and he has presented numerous posters focusing on the pathology of sudden deaths at various local and international forensic conferences.
He has been actively involved in the postgraduate training of forensic histopathology in Malaysia and has produced a forensic histopathology slide teaching set during his training in Melbourne. He has also conducted numerous forensic pathology workshops over the years.
He is the Deputy Chairman of the Malaysian Society of Forensic Medicine and Science, an international corresponding member of the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME), a life member of the Medico-Legal Society of Malaysia, and a member of the Indo-Pacific Association of Law, Medicine and Science (INPALMS) and the Forensic Science Society of Malaysia.
He was an editorial board member for The Malaysian Journal of Forensic Pathology and Science.
